, i Shively Brings Out Eight Sophomores Dixville, Petes Comet Form Entry While Meeting Downs Winner in Deep Situation CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 13. — The Shively Purse at six and one-half furlongs is to headline a well-balanced program tomorrow at this stately old racing grounds. The principal offering is exclusively for three-year-olds and eight members of that age division, the property of seven interests, are slated to go to the post in the mid-week feature. The G. and G. Stable will send put an entry for the Shively in Dixville, 117, and Petes Comet, 113 pounds. Mrs. Herbert Herff, prominent Memphis, Tennessee sportslady, is to be represented by Glance, 113; Louis J. Hollenbach, Sr., will rely on Amafox, 113, and Mrs. R. H. Lloyds silks are to be carried by Little Doc, 115 pounds. Others named for the sprint attraction are C. B. Hudsons Deep Situation, 113 ; Augustus and Nahms Mr. Dude, 113, and Carl M. Grahams Sinn Fein, 120 pounds, high weight under the Shively purse allowance clause. Tommy Barrow, who has been showing good saddle form in Kentucky this spring, will handle one of the G. and G. Stable starters, according to word this morning from trainer Vester Wright. George Roser drew the mount on Deep Situation and apprentice Don Devine, affiliated with the Calumet Farm stable, is engaged for Little Doc, who may come up the Shively choice. Quick Son of Littletown The G and G establishment holds a royal chance to achieve major honors in the feature. Dixville, a quick son of Littletown and Black Heels, won four of his dozen engagements last year and in his first 1952 outing finished fourth in the Aristides Purse. The colts recent morning trials indicate that he is quite fit and Dixville also will have a speedy running-mate tomorrow in Petes Comet. Deep Situation won here last week over a rather ordinary band, but the manner in which he accomplished the task, stepping six furlongs in a creditable 1:12%, marks him dangerous. The Hudson colt, the get of Sir Pennant and Agnes F., is expected to improve off his recent outing and he is favorably weighted for the Wednesday race. Little Doc gave a sharp performance in the seven furlongs Bellwood Purse, bowing to Eleven Men after making the pace to the stretch on that occasion. Sinn Fein finished third in the Bellwood, but the Graham colt may have needed his race. Little Doc ran fourth in the Iroquois Purse, but won at Keeneland oh April .19, beating nine other three-year-olds over the six and one-half furlongs distance. Sinn Feins only success thus far this year was at Gulf-stream Park early in April; The seventh event on the mid-week bill, one mile for four-year-olds and older, shapes up as the best supporting number and eight seasoned racers are slated to meet in the test. G and G Stables Almenow and James Paddocks Royal Tulip, which pair is to race coupled, appear well placed in the secondary offering, and Mrs. A. M. Creechs Convidado, a recent winner at the Downs, also should go well. P. L. Hallums Dustlight, li. Rossets Harbil, Henry Forrests Fine-Art, A. C. Roettis Resultin, and E. D. Axtons The Ghizeh.
