CARROL HART, a keen factor from the start, saved ground entering the stretch and assumed command over PANACHE, then continued willingly under brisk handling to hold the latter safe. PANACHE was hustled to the front early, gave way to CARROL HART at the stretch turn, came again when set down in the drive, but could not overtake the winner, although much the best of the others. BATTLE KING dropped back after beginning fast, steadily made up ground after the initial three-sixteenths, but could not reach the leaders. UMBRELLA MAN gave a fair effort and had no mishap. MISS FORT KNOX could not keep up. OCEE broke alertly, but was forced back going to the upper turn and could not reach serious contention thereafter. DINE IN TOWN tired after racing forwardly olaced to the stretch. LOVELY NOTE could not keep up. GRAY DESERT raced greenly. MONITRESS reached the front during the drive, but failed to stay. ROSY GREEK was outrun OUR GIFT had early speed, but failed to stay. CAPTAIN FIN was never dangerous. JOFOURTH, a sharp factor from the start, made a good bid in the early stretch, but was unable to overtake the top one. BALUSTER raced evenly until reaching the stretch, bore to the inside during the drive and could not get to the leaders PRO TANTO, forwardly placed from the start, reached the lead between calls during the stretch run, but faltered when near the finish. SPARKLEE, bothered during the drive by BALUSTER, could not seriously threaten when clear in the last sixteenth. MINNESOTA was outrun. BIG POP raced wide. KIBBY F failed to stay after showing early speed. ARRESTED was never prominent. FAR SON, on the outside for the drive, could not get to the leaders. OPEN WAY tired during the stretch run. KY. HASH was never prominent. BOLD KING lacked early speed, but made up ground while racing wide through the stretch. HALLIEBOY was hustled to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, then gave way when challenged by LITTLE BOOKIE. SKYOLATER tired after racing with HALLIEBOY to. the stretch. POLAR BATTLE gave a good effort and had no mishap. GOLD NECKLACE was unable to better her position when set down through the stretch. SPINSTER lacked early speed and was never dangerous. MADHAMAUT was outrun. MARY B. T. failed to stay after showing earlv foot. IMPRESSMENT began slowly. FANCY FUN had no mishap. The others were never serious contenders.
