HALCYON CHANCE pressed the pace on the outside, reached a narrow advantage in the stretch and outgamed POWER PLANT. The latter made the pace early while on the rail, continued well until the end, but was not good enough. YEOMAN closed resolutely after a slow start. COLD HEART had no excuse. ACQUIESCE tired nearing the end. CABLE BUG was forwardly placed early and gave way. COCKAHOOP bore out when tiring and finished near the outside rail. FIRST REFUSAL outsprinted his field from the break, drew away when roused in the stretch and won in hand. NOBLE SUN broke in a tangle, was hustled along to be closest to the pace and outfinished MAE WEST for the place. The latter was prominent throughout and lacked a closing rally. CRO-DOC showed little. PLATAN went into a narrow lead shortly after the start, drifted toward the inside rail in the final quarter mile, bothered STAR REQUEST at the furlong post and was disqualified. The latter, closest to the pace on the inside, took up when impeded in the stretch and continued gamely until the end when clear. MATAGORDA had no excuse in a good effort. REINFORCE ran in spots. The latter reached the lead in the stretch and appeared ready to draw clear, then shortened stride nearing the end. HEREDITY was always prominent and held on willingly. HELLCAT had no excuse.
