Ohio Notes FORT MIAMI, "Maumee, Ohio, May 13. Leading rider of the meeting continues to be the Springfield, Ohio, youngster, Howard Craig, with 19 winning rides to his credit. But Bill Lucas, an apprentice jockey, who slumped badly during the second week, now is in close pursuit with. 18 winners. Pete Maxwell, of Elk City, Okla., and George Manley, of St. Louis, Mo., are tied for training honors, each having saddled seven winners, while W. F. Riggs is close behind, having tightened the girths on six winners. Next Wednesdays racing card will be set aside as Fremont Day. Mayor Oscar Stier-walt, of this Ohio city, will head a large delegation of Eagles, Kiwanians, Rotarians and members of the Chamber of Commerce, and Mayor Stierwalt will present a trophy to the winning owner of the feature race of the day. It is anticipated that Fremonter Charley "Lucky" Kelly, sole ticket holder of the record ,212 Double paid at the Fort Miami track last Monday, may be appointed "legal turf adviser" to the visiting delegation. The richest purse and longest race of the meeting has been reserved for Saturday final day of the 25-day meeting. It is the Toledo Gold Cup, a handicap for three-year-olds and upward for a purse of ,500. Nominations for this endurance will close Tuesday, May 13. Entrants are expected from Detroit, Louisville, Cranwood Park, near Cleveland, and Beulah Park.
