Eligibility Payments on Two Del Mar Stakes Due May 15 DEL MAR. Calif., May 2.— Eligibility payments for the 5,000-added Del Mar Futurity and the 5,000-added Del Mar Debutante, two of the richest and most-coveted juvenile stakes in the Far West, will close on May 15, Alfred Hart, president of the Del Mar Turf Club, reminded horsemen today. Both events, at six furlongs, will be renewed at the forthcoming summer meeting "Where the Turf Meets the Surf," opening July 23 and running through September 7. For the sixth running of the Futurity, 248 were originally nominated last September 15, and a total of 186 nominations were made for the filly classic, the Debutante, a payment of 00 is due on May 15 to retain eligibility for each race. The Futurity already has 1,200 in the pot, and with the coming eligibility fees, plus starting and entering monies, the race ! . : is expected to surpass last years record ! gross of 9,075. Current value of the : Debutante is 9,650, and it, too, is almost j assured of eclipsing last summers renewal j when Calumet Farms Lap Full won the event, which grossed 2,225.
