Mr. Monica Seeking His Second Fort Miami Score Vies With Recent Winners at Meet in Princette, Justasnack PORT MIAMI, Maumee. Ohio, May 2.— Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harrells nine-year-old horse, Mr. Monica, will attempt to earn his ;econd consecutive victory over a field of six others in the five and a half furlongs sprint which heads the Monday card at Fort Miami. Entitled the Bowling Green Purse, in honor of the educational institution located nearby, the sprint finds Jack Tyrie, Longone, Justasnack, Leaping Moose, Princette and Cardan arrayed against Mr. Monica and the fact that the first five named have been winners at the course this season indicates that the Harrell stallion will have to be at his best form to prevail. Mr. Monica is a son of San Monica — Laurella, who has spent several seasons in the stud of his Elk City, Okla., owners. The handsome chestnut earned the initial triumph of the 1953 racing campaign in his last outing at the shorter five furlongs and appears in fine fettle for his test in the Bowling Green. Jack Tyrie holds one triumph over Mr. Monica, earned in the first start of the season locally by the Harrell charge. Jack moved up into stiffer competition after that encouragement but is back where he belongs Monday. The edge in racing should help Mr. Monica reverse the opening defeat but Jack Tyrie is a worthy foe. Princette and Justasnack were victors of their latest forays at Fort Miami, though both are moving up to the first mentioned racers. Leaping Moose, the unquestioned speedball of Ohio, despite his 12 years, will probably make the pace and may not be in one of his stopping moods. Cardan, the only non-winner in the race, has been close enough in his recent outings to upset the more successful opponents.
