Senate Comes Up With Own Bill on Ohio Mutuel Tax COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 2 UP .—A fight on how much to increase the pari-mutuel tax in Ohio appears likely after the Senate taxation committee yesterday came up with a different bill from the one approved in the House. The Senate bill reduces the maximum tax to 6 per cent and increased the tracks percentage of the money wagered. The Senate would allow the tracks to keep 12% per cent of the money. The House bill allowed 12 per cent. The House bill increased the tax range from the present 1 to 3 per cent to 3 to 7 I per cent. The Senate bill is 3 to 6 per cent. I Sen. Donald Rolf R.-Cincinnati said the bill would produce about ,170,000 based on last years wagering. The state received ,350-,000 from the tax last year. The 6 per cent tax would apply to all money wagered above 00,000. Both the House and Senate bills provided for splitting the breakage equally between the track and state on all breakage over ,000. Under present law, the tracks keep all of the breakage, which was ,165,000 last year.
