Pistorio Duo Gets L Pimlico Dash Call Brazen Brat Receives Weight From Senator Joe, Starecase ] In Prep for Week-End Stake - PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 9.— With 5 three weeks remaining on the Maryland I spring racing calendar, the 21-day Pimlico [ session goes on a five-day week, with Tues- C days "dark" through the balance of the -meeting. Daily Post time, which has al- ready caused considerable confusion, has I again been changed and will be 2:00 p. m. c starting Monday, but will go back to 1:40 | p. m. for each Saturday program. Highlights of the coming week locally is -the 5,000 added Baltimore Spring Handi- « cap, a five and one-half furlong dash for ] three-year-olds and upwards. There are 3 49 sprinters eligible for the fixture and ; racing secretary J. Fred Colwill is due to 5 release his weight assignments Monday ■ afternoon. Mondays headliner, the ,000 Baltimore "" Sports Reporters Association Purse, was de- -signed as a prep for the Baltimore Spring t and will serve that purpose for 10 of its 11 v starters. Named for the dash, which is at the same abbreviated distance, are the following: Mrs. Samuel M. Pistorios Brazen Brat and Singing Beauty, Alan T. Clarkes Senator Joe and Jeannie C, Danny Sheas Sweet Vermouth, Brookfield Farms Influence, Gee M. Cohens Jess Linthicum, Cary C. Boshamers Yama, David G. Neumans Starecase, Walter A. Edgars Jack the Great, and Berkshire Stables Flushing Dusk. The latter is the lone member of the field ineligible for the Spring Cap next Saturday. Bowes Bonds Strong Entry Trainer Bowes Bond will have strong representation in the sprint with Brazen Brat and Singing Beauty named to compete. The former has raced extremely well in Maryland this spring and won her last impressively after having been acquired by Mrs. Pistorio earlier that afternoon from the Bobanet Stable. Singing Beauty was a stakes winner last fall but has been slower coming to hand than was Brazen Brat. The other coupling of Senator Joe and Jeannie C. also rates consideration, with the former apparently the more proficient. Senator Joe tired in his lone outing this spring and could conceivably need another race to attain peak form. Jeannie C. possesses her usual speed but has been unable to carry it for the full distance thus far this spring. Sweet Vermouth has several good races this spring and in his last appearance was a bang-up second behind Brazen Brat at six furlongs. Others who have raced fairly well this spring are Jack the Great, Yama and Starecase, though the latter has shown little since being haltered by his present owner. Flushing Dusk has not raced this year and has little to recommend. A pair of sprinters making their first starts of the year — Influence and Jess Linthicum — could prove dangerous. Influence, one of three Brookfield eligibles to the Spring Handicap, hasnt started since winning his last race here last fall. Jess Linthicum has trained splendidly for his seasonal debut.
