Canfield Purse Attracts Seven at Ascot Course High Reno Rules Slight Choice Over Mr. Fixit in Sprint Event ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 9. — The entire program on Monday has been turned over to horses running in the claiming ranks, however, the feature event, the Canfield at six and one-half furlongs, may prove an interesting race. With the weather finally breaking here in northern Ohio, Ascot Park should realize one of its best weeks commencing with Mondays sport. The seven in the Canfield are J. K. Wyn-koops Easy Silver, Cremona Farms Royal Knave, Wilmer C. Ensors Neds Polly, Ronald Houses Happy Count, Cleveland Skinkers Mr. Fixit, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Maxwells High Reno and Grand One from the large stable of Washingtonian Harrison M. Simpson. The Maxwell colorbearer, as is so often the case here at Ascot, must be given a slight preference in this race. High Reno will once again be ridden by Gail Parker and the last time those two teamed up it resulted in a four-length decision by High Reno over Foxy Boy at this same distance. That was scored on a fast track and if a bright sun should happen to shine over Sunday this track may be at least good by race time on Monday. Main opposition to High Reno will probably come from Mr. Fixit, who can usually be counted on for a good effort over a dry strip. His best race at the meeting was his last one in which the son of Manador defeated Miss Samurai moving around the mare at the furlong marker and then drawing clear in the final 70 yards. Mr. Fixit was ridden by Willie Clark in that effort. Neds Polly will be making her first start of the season at Ascot. She was just shipped here from Wheeling Downs and can usually be counted on for a good game effort. She has visited the winners enclosure once this season, on March 12 at Charles Town she go up in the final jump.
