All Stake Races at Detroit Race Course on TV DETROIT, Mich., May 9.— All stake races at the Detroit Race Course, including the 0,000 Michigan Mile, will be carried this summer on live television over Channel 7, WXYZ-TV, it was announced today. The Michigan Mile, which will attract the best of the nations handicap horses to Michigan, also will be carried coast -to -coast on the television network of the American Broadcasting Company. WXYZ will do telecasts each Saturday from the track at Schoolcraft and Middlebelt Roads. The telecasts will start at 5 p.m. each Saturday except for the Michigan Mile on July 25, which will start at 4:30. The first telecast will be made on Saturday, May 30. The Detroit Race Course opens its 57-day meeting on Thursday, May 28. Fred Wolfe will be one of the telecast commentators. In addition to the 0,000 mile, the telecasts will show the 5,000 Frontier Handicap; the 0,000 Rose Leaves; the 0,000 F. M. Alger Memorial Handicap; the ,500 Tomboy; the ,500 Governors Stakes; and four other races of ,000 each. Among the nominations now on hand for the Michigan Mile are that of Calumet Farms Hill Gail, trained by Ben Jones and winner of the 1952 Kentucky Derby; Money Broker, winner of the 00,000 Florida Derby; Oil Capitol, winner of the 00,000 Widener Handicap; Big Stretch, Crafty Admiral, Dixie Flyer, Ruhe, Truly Fair, Sub Fleet, Sickles Image, Seaward, Royal Serenade, Platan, Inseparable, Indian Hemp. Supplementing the live TV coverage of hotse racing this season is a quarter-hour feature program now running weekly on WJBK-TV Channel 2 at 10:30 p.m. Fridays.
