Ohio Notes ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Palls, Ohio, May 9. Ike Bassett, central manager of the Jockeys Guild, is here at Ascot Park and plans to remain over the week end. Bassett arrived here on Friday morning. Wilmer C. "Doc" Ensor shipped nine head in from Wheeling Downs yesterday. The contingent is headed by the fine handicap mare Love Lock. Jockey Robert Gordon will do the bulk of Elisors riding. Jockey Johnny Phillips who has been riding very well in the past week received his draft notice in the morning mail. Trainer J. D. Price has registered another horse in his already large public stable. The new addition is Mrs. Betty Webers Beech Hill and he is quite welcome in the Price establishment. Last winter in Florida he won five out of seven starts. Pete Johnson, a professional dancer from Hamilton, Ohio, has been taking in several days of sport here at Ascot. Johnson will appear on the Godfrey talent scout show in the near future. Red Yelton and Orien Hampton, both local officials, will motor to Covington, Kentucky, over the week end to spend Mothers Day at home. Both men will be back on the job Monday morning at Thistle Down, where they take entries for the Ascot races. Owner-trainer George Dobkins has purchased Flag Maud from Jimmy Simpson at private terms. Earlier in the week Dob-kins acquired Red April.
