Dark Star, Native Dancer Work Over Belmont Strip BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I„ N. Y., May 9.— Cain Hoy Stables Dark Star and Alfred G. Vanderbilts Native Dancer worked over the "good" track at Belmont Park this morning and the two colts indicated that they had suffered no ill-effects from their epic struggle in the Kentucky Derby. Dark Star was asked to show the most speed this morning, going a handy six furlongs in 1:13%. The Derby winners fractions were :23V£, :35, :47% and five furlongs in 1:00%. Native Dancer merely galloped along easily as he breezed a half in : 50. The gray son of Polynesian is slated to go postward in Saturdays Withers Mile, according to trainer Bill Winfrey. Dark Stars next engagement, according to present plans, which are subject to revision, is the Preakness Trial, but he is also eligible to the Withers and this mornings work suggests that he is being kept on edge.
