Guy and Walter Shultz Back at Ak-Sar-Ben Butch K. Heads Twelve-Horse String of Oklahoma Horsemen OMAHA, Nebr., May 9. — The successful brother team of Guy and Walter Shultz, veteran horsemen from Marland, Okla., has returned to Ak-Sar-Ben for their seventeenth consecutive year of racing at the Omaha track. And again this year the Shultz brothers have a formidable string of runners ready to compete in the 35-day Ak-Sar-Ben meeting which opens Tuesday. May 19. The likable Shultzes, who call the Ak-Sar-Ben track their "second home," are conditioning 12 speedsters who last year won a total of 16 races. Tops in their stable is Butch K., an outstanding handicap runner, and a favorite with Ak-Sar-Ben fans last year. Now a six-year-old, the big brown gelded son of Whisk K. saw the winners circle six times in 1952 campaigning. At Ak-Sar-Ben last year, Butch K. was the Shultzes big gun in winning them more than 8,000 in purse money and leading stable honors. In the 1952 meeting he upset the favorites by winning the 0,000 Ak-Sar-Ben Handicap. He also tied two track records, won the Ak-Sar-Ben Council Handicap and finished third in the Inaugural Handicap. And Butch K. went on to boost his 1952 earnings over the 0,000 mark by winning a ,000 handicap at Denver and two ,000 handicaps at Wheeling Downs. Guy and Walter think their top hope may repeat those performances this year. He has been training well and during the week did the four-furlong spin in the creditable time of :533/5, running handily on a heavy track. Six others in the Shultz stable, all winners last year, are old friends of Ak-Sar-Ben racing fans including Lady Lassator, Sammies Image. Nod On, King C. O., Freda May and Bud K.
