Harland Smiths Mother Dies FORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 9.— Harland A. Smith, long-time telegraph operator for Daily Racing Form was absent from his post at Fort Miami today due to the death of his mother, Mrs. Stella Smith, who passed away suddenly in Detroit. Mrs. Smith was 74 years old at the time of her death and will be taken to Norwalk, Ohio, for the burial ceremonies which will take place from the Smith homesite at 64 South Elm Street, in that city.
