EMERGENCY FREE was .well placed from the start, wrested command early in the stretch run and responded well to last over SUNNYMAN. The latter, unhurried while within striking distance, responded from the outside througK the stretch and was wearing down the winner. VIVA BONES, under restraint while in close attendance to the pace, moved menacingly when straightened into the stretch, then hung. REIGHSIGN wrested command after five furlongs, drew clear on the turn, but was. unable to retain the advantage. ELAND faltered through the- final quarter, as did BORICUA. MOMUS, slow to settle into stride, responded to strong urging while moving between horses and gained a narrow victory over EARLY WARNING. The latter saved ground while setting the pace, drifted out entering the stretch and fought it out gamely. AMBIGUOUS displayed speed from the start, but lacked a late surge. Nichols claim of foul against EARLY WARNING for carrying out AMBIGUOUS was disallowed. WILL STAR lacked a late rally. CUP MAN raced within striking distance to the furlong pole and faltered. BUSY PHIL was through early. TAX CUT raced with his stablemate to the three-eighths pole and gave way while drifting wide. Scratched-On Fly, 114. ED THE GREAT made up ground through the final furlong. RONAS closed with good speed, as did MARYLAND LINE. MIKE OHERRON gave way badly, as did REAPING LOVE.
