A high-placed American official said today that the Communists may be able to complete their conquest of northern Indochina in 30 days if the Allies do not intervene immediately. This stark possibility is causing the deepest concern in administration circles. But officials said this country still will make no move to intervene until the conditions it set for "united action" have been met.. . . Bennington to Undergo Nine-Month Repair QUONSET POINT, R.VI., June 9. The shattered carrier, Bennington, limped toward New York Navy Yard in Brooklyn today with an undaunted crew. The ship, ripped by blasts and fire that killed 102 officers and men two4 weeks ago, will undergo repairs and overhauling scheduled to take nine months. Dems Fight for Trade Program Extension WASHINGTON, D. C, June 9. Senate Democrats put the Republicans on notice today that they are ready to fight for the full three-year extension of the reciprocal trade program that President Eisenhower originally sought. Democratic leaders made this clear after Sen. Albert Gore D.-Tenn. said in a Senate speech that he would offer Mr. Eisenhowers trade program as j an amendment to the House-passed tax reform bill unless Democrats are given assurances they can vote on the issue and soon. U.S. Prepares for Emergency Withdrawal WASHINGTON, D. -h, June 9. The United States is making standby preparations for an emergency withdrawal of American men and equipment in case the , Communists overrun the Red River delta . in Indochina, a well-informed senator disclosed today. The senator, who asked not to be identified, said this was the main. reason behind the announcement yesterday that the air force mission in Indochina will not be called home as administration officials said previously. Ministers to Meet on Guatemala Situation WASHINGTON, D. C, June 9. Diplomatic sources said today that the American foreign ministers will be called into a special session to consider the Communist menace in Guatamala. They said the meeting probably will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, July 1. Meantime, officials disclosed that the U. S. Navy is shadowing ships suspected of carrying arms to leftist Guatemala. They said the United States is receiving a constant flow of tips on suspicious ships and the navy is trailing these vessels to chart their action. Symington Offers To Testify Under Oath WASHINGTON, D. C, June 9. Sen. - Stuart Symington offered today "to testify under oath" in the Army-McCarthy hearings if Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy will give sworn testimony before a special Senate committee on his personal finances. McCarthy immediately accepted provided that Vice-President Richard M. Nixon and the Senate want to appoint a committee to investigate what he called the "smears" ; against him. FOREIGN: Claims Reds Aim to Dominate Indochina PARIS, France, June 9. French Foreign Minister Georges Bedault told the National Assembly today that the Geneva Conference has revealed the true aims of the Communists to dominate all Indochina. Molotoys Terms Virtually Doom Agreement GENEVA, Switzerland, June 9 A high United States source said today1 that Soviet Foreign Minister V. M. Mqlotovs harsh terms for an Indochina peace "virtually doomed the prospects for an agreement which the United States could accept. Russia, this source said, will have to trim its price for a settlement or the United States cannot go along. Belgium Demands Compensation forAttack BRUSSELS, Belgium, June 9. Belgium today charged that a Soviet jet fighter made the June 3 attack on an unarmed Belgian Sabena air transport plane in which one Belgian was killed and two were wounded. A protest note to Moscow demanded that Russia pay "compensation for the victims." South Korea Should Prepare Rhee SEOUL, Korea, June 9. President Syng-man Rhee told the new National Assembly today that South Korea should prepare, "to march northward to unify" the country. Rhee did not give details on what he meant by "marching north," but he has threatened time and again to" reopen the Korean War because he is convinced that negotiating with the Reds will fail. French Planes Bomb Two Red Bases - HANOI, Indochina, June- 9. French planes today bombed and strafed two bases used by Communist rebels as jump-off points for raids on Hanois lifeline to the seaport of Haiphong. A French high command spokesman said infantrymen and tanks followed up on the attacks on the villages of Tu The and Pra Lan, seven miles east of Hanoi.
