Brady Stable Possesses Trump Cards For Various Stakes at Monmouth Park Commonwealth, Artismo and Landlocked Among Fifteen Head Under Dotters Care - By FRED GALIAN1 Staff Correspondent MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J.. June 9. Owner James Cox Brady and trainer Bobby Dotter appear to have a strong hand for the various stakes at Monmouth Parks session, which opens Saturday. They have trump cards for each age group and their right bower is the highly heralded juvenile Commonwealth, winner of his only start this year. In his debut, the son of Roman Burgoo Main whirled down four and a half furlongs of the .Widener course in :5lVs against the wind to-score by five lengths under Dave Gorman. That was on the same day White Skies won the Roseben Handicap. Commonwealth is a nominee for three stakes at the meeting, the. Tyro on July 5, the New Jersey Futurity for homebreds on July 14, and the 0,000 Sapling Stakes on August 9. The dark bay colt, a compact and well proportioned individual, was in high metal when visited yesterday afternoon. "Watch out for him," warned Dotter, "Hell bite or kick and hes very fast." As he said that Commonwealth srmked his head out of the stall in a lunge to grab someone. "Hes in real high spirits," commented Dotter. Artismo, second high on the Experimental list, is their hole card for sophomore stakes. A nominee for the Lamplighter and Choice, Artismo was given a brief rest since returning to action and has started training again. "He has some-knee trouble, but he is going sound now," said Dotter, "and we hope hell be ready for the stakes." Landlocked Widener Winner The third big card they can deal is Landlocked, winner of The Widener, who is being pointed for the 0,000 Monmouth Handicap. "Hes in good form," remarked Dotter. "The main thing with him is that he needs a rest between races." In addition to the big three, there are a dozen others to carry the red, white and black of Brady. The entourage, complete with Dotters dogs, who are almost as numerous as the horses, including a German Weimeraner, an English pointer with a litter of five pups, and few others, hecked in Tuesday. After the close here the string will travel to Saratoga. Stabled right across from Brady is Frank Gilpins string, headed by the undefeated and triple stakes winner Royal Note. The Spy Song colt was heavily swathed in bandages on the left fore leg. He suffered scrapes when he threw his rider and went to his knee. "Its not a serious cut," said Gilpin. A meeting between Royal Note and Commonwealth is eagerly anticipated and the only stakes both are eligible for here is the Sapling. Royal Note has won four races, including the Lafayette, Bashford Manor and Cherry Hill Stakes. From all indications it looks like a small field for Saturdays Oceanport Handicap. Word was received today that Jim Fitz-simmons was sending Wheatley Stables Hilarious for the sprint. Opposing White Skies also will be Alfred RobertSEaton- o town, Robert P. Levys Hueso and perhaps a few lightweights who may try amder the big pull in poundage. Among the arrivals this morning were J. W. Maloney with six horses for Joseph Roebling, with more to come at a later date, and Bernie Bond with 18 horses. Preston Burch will send in a few Brookmeade horses tomorrow. Willie Hartack, second leading rider at the Garden State meeting, will skip the first day here. He winds up his riding duties at Delaware today and will report here tomorrow, but will then leave in the evening for California where he will ride Pet Bully for his contract employer, Mrs. Ada L. Rice, on Saturday.
