Fans Favor Announcement Of Round-by-Round Scoring INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., June 9 UP. The Indiana State Athletic Commission said today public announcement of the scoring after each round of the Joe Miceli Al Andrews welterweight fight on May 29 was a huge success. The commissioner expressed the hope the plan would be accepted universally. Arch Hindman, Hagerstown, executive secretary of the commission, said about 95 per cent of the fans who commented liked the system, used for the first time on a nationally-televised program from the Coliseum here May 29. He said the American Broadcasting Co., which telecast the fight, received "thousands" of letters, telephone calls and telegrams. The Indiana commission also received a big stack of letters, all but two favoring the new system, Hindman said. Hindmans next move .will be the push for National adoptin of the Hoosier scoring plan at the National Boxing Association meeting at Cleveland in September. Hindman said the system is helpful to viewers as well as fighters. By announcing a "running" score, both know which way the fight is going. In the case of Miceli and Andrews, both knew it was a close sprap. As a result, they staged a thriller, and the bout ended in draw. , . a - c - ,
