News From Virginia WARRENTOWN, Va., June 26. The High Hope mare, Lump Sugar, by Bull Lea out of Sugar Run, has a colt by Bimelech and was bred to Rico Monte. War Gem, by Man o War out of Sun Emerald, foaled a. chestnut colt by General Staff and was sent to the court of of Oil Capitol. The young mare, Shy Bim, a recent purchase of Mrs. Moore, by Bimelech out of Bashful, by Man o War, was covered by Bolero. Mrs. Moore reports that the mare, Finella, by Insco out of Bridesmaid, died while foaling an unusually large foal that subsequently died, by Beauchef . This foal at the time of birth measured 12 hands and weighed 225 pounds. Word comes from Milton Ritzenbergs North Hill Farm at Berryville that the farm mare, Golden Prattle, by Cloth o Gold, foaled a filly by Bold Salute and that the mare was returned to this stallion. Another North Hill mare that had a filly by Bold Salute and was returned to him is the mare, Serena, by Haltal. The mare Miss Oakhurst, now the property of Milton Gettinger, is the dam of a filly by Bold Salute, and the mare was returned to him. North Hill Farm also reports the death of the stallion Cravat, by Sickle out of Frilette, at the age of 19. Cravat sired many winners as well as the stakes winners, Spats and Dr. Ole Nelson. Mrs. Marie A. Moore recently purchased from Mrs. M. K. Markman the Sir Galla-had HE. mare Chessel, out of Cottage Cheese. Since her purchase Chessel has been bred to Greek Ship and has been pronounced in foal.
