Approve Foundation Fund-Raising Plans To Seek Contributions From Turf Groups for Jockey Club Project NEW YORK, N. Y., June 26. Plans for raising funds for The Jockey Club Foundation Home, Inc., were approved at the recent annual meeting of the organizations directors and immediate efforts will be made to solicit contributions from turf associations throughout the United States for the non-profit home established last year to help thoroughbred racing "take care of its own." George D. Widener is honorary chairman, J. Samuel Perlman, chairman, and Marshall Cassidy, vice-chairman of the National Fund Raising Committee. Thus far, contributions totalling 6,800 have been received, consisting of ,000 donations each by the American Totalisator Company, Westchester Racing Association, Metrojolitan Jockey Club, Queens County Jockey Club and the Saratoga Association; ,000 from Pinkertons National Detective Agency, and 00 from individual contributors. A letter outlining the aims and purposes of the home and requesting contributions was drafted at a directors meeting-at Belmont Park on May 28 and is being sent to all major race courses in the United States. The letter states that the purpose of The Jockey Club Foundation Home, Inc., is "to provide shelter as well as medical and nursing care for worthy individuals who have been associated with throughbred racing in the United States and who, because of age, physical disability, illness or other reasons, have become incapable of self-support." Emphasized in the letter is the fact that there are no overhead expenses in connection with The Jockey Club Foundation Home, Inc. no charges for rent and general maintenance. All monies contributed will go directly to those in need, nothing being deducted for administration. The complete slate of officers of The Jockey Club Foundation Home, Inc., elected at the annual meeting, follows: President, George D. Widener; vice presidents, Ashley T. Cole, Judge James E. Dooley and Robert O. Read; Marshall Cassidy, secretary-treasurer, and Miss Martha Flower, assistant secretary.
