The Massilon Purse, at five and one-half furlongs for two-year-olds, will headline the racing program to be presented at this smartly appointed suburban Cleveland course on Monday. This race will serve as a preview for the ,500 added Endurance Stakes to be run here on iat-urday at six furlongs. All but one of the eight entrants has been "staked" in that event. The field in the Massilon includes two couplings, Myron Hamar will be represented by Mig Alley and Snubbed wb;le Texan Ernest H. Lane will send Top Fair and Miss Deck postward. Others slated to start in, the feature are Mrs. Fred Sharpe and T. Dunns Rio Riba, Samuel C. Dykes Shy Peg W. J. Sprow Jr.s Pie Bed, and E. W. Haynes Texas .Plains. Pie Bed made his initial start of the meeting on Wednesday and lacking any rally whatsoever wound up in fourth position beaten nearly 11 lengths by Mrs;. Arthur Hullcoats homebred, Happy Memories. Pie Bed was definitely short in his race according to jockey Bowcut and he can be expected to turn in a much better accounting of himself in the Massilon. Ran Third in Joliet Pie , Bed ran third in a section of the Joliet Stakes at Lincoln Fields "in his race prior to Wednesday. In that race the Grand Admiral colt was cut down and still had enough left to finish a strong third. Before that race he defeated Munchausen by two and a half lengths. The latter is regarded as one of the better two-year-olds in the Detroit area this summer. The Hamar entry will receive a good portion of the play. Mig Alley, a winner last winter while at Santa Anita, will be making his first start of the meeting, but has been training smartly over the track. Snubbed turned in a disappointing effort to Happy Memories on Wednesday. On the final turn it appeared as though he had the race won and then flattened out badly finishing third, but held a five-length cushion over Pie Beu Shy Peg, a faultless filly, will be out for the first time at this meeting. She looked very well earlier in the year while at Gulf-stream Park where she won twice. On April 22 she bested Roman Senator by a nose, running the four and a half furlongs in :55 over a heavy track. Before that she equaled the track record for that same distance when she was timed in :52, getting to the wire two and a half lengths in front of Dogoon. Miss Deck and Top Fair have both had good races over the track and must- T e accorded a chance in here. Rio Riba has been improving lately while Texas Plains did not look too sharp in his local debut.
