Mary Jane G. Romping My Dandy Purse Winner Triplett Mare Has Too Much Speed for Fairmount Opponents By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 22. The My Dandy Purse was the headliner here Tuesday night, and Mary Jane G., a five-year-old daughter of Apache Dog Daze, who raced in the silks of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Triplett, gave such a startling performance many older racing fans who remembered the blazing speed the son of Porte Drapeau displayed were of the impression it was My Dandy instead of Mary Jane G. who so easily accounted for the six-furlong dash which honored the old gelding. For many years My Dandy raced in the silks of the Reich-ert Brothers of near-by Belleville. The Triplett representative, not considered a serious factor by the 5,791 fans, won "laughing" from the J. and S. Hanover representative, Galway Boy, and Gus Fan, who raced for the partnership of J. and G. Hejna. Others accepting the issue and finishing in order behind the placed trio were Mighty Epic, Bold Spot, Hard Sis, who served as the public choice; Spring Water and Sheiks Image. Hard Sis, noted for her speed, got to the front shortly after the start and maintained her slight advantage the opening quarter, but when they settled entering the stretch Charles Billeaud lashed his mount once with the whip and Mary Jane G. quickly took command.
