Hall Print Opposes Six In River Downs Feature Expect Monon Braye, Jack Tar To Furnish Main Competition RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 22. The Fort Mitchell Country Club Purse is up for decision on Thursdays eight-race card. Under the allowance conditions which were hung up as an extra by racing secretary Lawrence Bogenschutz when the original in the book did not fill, there are seven of the more worthy and consistent candidates on the grounds available for the contest. The staging is at the mile and 70-yard distance, and the winners share will be the major portion of the ,200 purse. Rounding out the group are Froome Barbours Monon Brave, S. I. Crews Jack Tar, W. F. Scotts Bill Pac, A. H. Livingstones Missou, the estate of P. Youkilis and Doug Davis, Jr.s, Hall Print, the Arbywood Stables Spy Defense, and Wallace Strongs Practical. With a group as well matched as the above, it is an arduous task to determine just which should be in line for the bulk of support in the wagering. Hall Print, however, has an illustrious record at the meeting. After graduating from the maiden ranks in an event designed for maiden three- and four -year-olds on June 1, the four-year-old Rico Monte Lady Phara gelding came on to finish a bang-up third among some of the finest on the grounds, turned in another commendable effort last week over a lightning-fast strip, took the lead in a six-furlong event at the furlong marker, and in an extended drive outgamed Monon Brave to be a half length the best. The time was 1:12 flat and, while jockey J. Chestnut had little difficulty in getting him into stride, he will undoubtedly have improved again over that effort. Monon Brave has had but two outings over the course and again cannot be overlooked. This three-year-old Fighting Step offspring customarily displays a wealth of early foot, but was behind Hall Print in getting under way the last time. He has been rather mildly campaigned this year and last and usually takes down a portion of the spoils in any event.
