Joe Collins Injures Ankle NEW YORK, N. Y., June 22 UP . First baseman Joe Collins of the New York Yankees was admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital today for treatment of an ankle injury, which was diagnosed as phlebitis, or inflammation of the vein. Collins incurred the injury when he hit himself with a foul ball while batting against the Detroit Tigers last week.
