Woodhouse sent Getthere Jack to the lead leaving the gate in the Tremont, which was having its 63rd running, and at the end of a quarter in :22 was a half length before Bob-O-Bob, while Smooth Stride and Reneged, who had been off, slowly, and Eiffel Blue formed a compact group a couple of lengths behind. Jean Baptiste and Toby B. "were spaced out in the rear. Rounding the turns, Getthere Jack widened his lead until he was more than two lengths , before Bob-O-Bob, after completing the half in A62s, while Eiffel Blue was a couple of lengths farther back and Smooth Stride was weakening, while Reneged stopped badly. As they straightened away in the stretch, Bob-O-Bob loomed up. with a powerful move on the outside, but Woodhouse reached back with his stick and Getthere Jack responded. Just as the favorite drew away, Bob-OBob swerved sharply to the rail and was passed by Eiffel Blue a few strides later. Draws Off Again in Final Strides Woodhouse began to hand ride Getthere Jack inside the furlong pole, but went to the whip again inside the sixteenth marker and the little colt appeared to be doing his best as he drew away again in the final strides. Eiffel Blue finished willingly, while Bob-O-Bob turned in an excellent race for a colt who had not started since the Gulf-stream Park meeting, where he had finished second and sixth to Getthere Jack in -two stakes. Jockey Conn McCreary escaped with bruises and a severe shaking-up in a spill after the first race. He had finished second on Ethel D. Jacobs In Wonderland, and had ridden back to salute the judges when Sunshine Stables Rips Image, ridden by apprentice Edward J. Beckercollided with his mount and both boys were knocked from the saddle. The saddle had slipped on Rips Image before the finish of the race and -young Becker didnt wait for an outrider to lead him back. As he approached the winners circle with his feet out of the irons, Becker was unable to control Rips Image as she ducked away from a group of valets and collided with In Wonderland. Becker somersaulted to his feet without injury, but McCreary suffered a bump on his forehead and was taken from the track in the ambulance. Wheatley Stables Africa, won the dash under Jess Higley, scoring by a length and a half over In Wonderland, who came from far back. The winner paid 1.10.
