Delaware By Charles Hatton See Large and Classy Field for New Castle Evening Out Recovers Her Peak Form Garden State in Line for Swaps, Nashua Duel DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 22. The intermediate stake in Delawares "Distaff Big Three" is to be offered here on Saturday when the 5,000 added "new" New Castle has its inaugural running at a mile and a sixteenth. This event is for fillies and mares, three-year-olds and upward, and racing secretary Gil Haus is optimistic a field of 13 or 14 will accept. Unlike the Delaware Handicap, it is a genuine stakes event, with penalties and allowances, and the possible starters include Another World, Maid of Flight, Blue Violin, Gweny G., Hen Party, Smart Devil, Clear Dawn, June Fete, Rosemary B., Open Sesame, Black Main, Loquacious, Myrtles Jet, Cana-diana, Cerise Reine, Gainsboro Girl, Carry the News . and Evening Out. Clear vDawn is a recent arrival. Myrtles Jet, who is Myrtle Charms first born, expired on the pace in the recent Delaware Oaks, but she may benefit from the seasoning of that coveted event. She has grown appreciably ;lce turning three and yet it takes a filly of outstanding superiority to lead "from end to end," as the Maine Chance performers are hope- -fully expected to do. Former jockey Al Robertson estimates a horse must be at least five pounds the best to win all the way. The attractive High Voltage, who won the Oaks, is expected back here following the Gazelle for the Delaware Handicap, if the weights are at all acceptable. She is distinctly the class of the eligibles for the Aqueduct stake, and is reported in excellent fettle despite her hard race here. Plan to Van Filly From Monmouth Before, the recent Regret at Monmouth, which she won, trainer Bert Mulholland said that he hoped the open-kneed Evening Out would run aVgood race, to warrant starting her in the "new" New Castle and the Delaware Handicap of an estimated 50,000 at this point. He and Mrs. Mulholland were here yesterday, along with George Widener, and it is planned to van the classical daughter of Shut Out, to this scenic course on Friday. Apparently, this sleek brown filly, who races for Mrs. Widener, is partial to the Monmouth going, and by the same token she should take kindly to that here at Delaware Park. As a three-year-old last season, Evening Out won the Monmouth Oaks, just when theparvenu "experts" decided that she was never going to win another race of any importance. Knees are tricky, and unfortunately for Evening Out, she has them, as a matter of. heritage, but when she going in her best form there are few of her sex who can compete with her. There is just a guess hereabout that if and when Swaps and Nashua meet again it may be in the 0,-000 added Trenton Handicap of a mile and a quarter on October 15 at Garden State Park, or in the same clubs mile and a sixteenth, Benjamin Franklin. These events do not close until September 15, and their exact values have not been established. But it is known that Rex Ellsworth plans to ship his racing string to the magnificent Camden course in the autumn. He and Mischa Tenney are pointing the recent Coast winner, Like Magic, for the fabulously rich Garden State Park stakes, and they make no secret of the fact this brother to Swaps is an even better prospect at the moment. Meanwhile Garden State is being refurbished with a resplendant new coat of paint for its next meeting. Gene Moris most absorbing preoccupation just now is Hialeah Park, where he is extending the Bougain-villea-trimmed stand to make the general admissions patrons more comfortable. This project is said, to be progressing ahead of schedule, and it doubtless will be completed far in advance of the next winter season at the aesthetic Miami course. Shuk and Scurlock Get Lamplighter Mounts Turf ana: Pollys Jet is a candidate for the Garden State. . . .
