MISS ATLAS raced MINUTE HAND into defeat to hold sway at the furlong marker, but faltered thereafter ft5enJK!hed- G0LDE,N ZPPER lacked a rally. MINUTE HAND, much used earlyhad little left. WINGS OF EGYPT was carried wide on the near turn and lost all chance. FAST MELODY tired. RIPS IMAGE assumed a slight lead soon after the start, drifted very wide on the final turn when his saddle slipped, then was unable to be perseveredwith during the stretch run. BECKYGALE raced wide. The latter moved up boldly on the outside to gain near even terms with the leader at the furlong marker but hung slightly when punished thereafter, and was unable to overtake the top one. MARSTON MOOR was unable to improve his position when hard hustled through the late stages. SIMPLE, forced to take up slightly when in close quarters around the turn, closed with .good courage when clear during the stretch run. CASH AL,E was through after a half mile. MISS JULIE, away tardily recovered readily to improve her position to the final turn, ducked in slightly when going to the front at the furlong marker, but responded gamely to punishment when straightened and retained a clear advantage over MAEVIDO. The latter alternated in setting and pressing the early pace, remained next to the inner rail to retain a contending position entering the stretch and, though unable to withstand the winner, held on determinedly to easily best the others. MERLEE, forced to take up sharply when impeded nearing the furlong marker, was unable to recover. KAW MAID failed to make up appreciable ground. TIMELY LASS tired. NERVOUS NELL, a sharp factor during the early running while reaching the lead between calls, drifted out around the turn and was unable to keep up. GRANMA MARSHA never was dangerous.
