WITCH WAY raced with the early leaders to the far turn, then drew into a short lead, increased it after entering the stretch and was not in danger coming to the end, although hustled along. GOLDEN APOLLO was always a forward factor and finished with good courage. WHIRLABOY made up ground in the late stages. FIGHTING WHIZ saved ground where possible. FLEET ACE and ESPEDECO had speed to the stretch, then tired. The others failed to offer much opposition. ARETE was always within striking distance of the leaders, and responding well to urging in the. stretch, forged to the front in the final fifty yards to hold YELLMANTOWN. The latter raced rather wide around the stretch turn, but finished with determination under hard riding. PRINCETONIAN was badly outrun for half the trip, but was going strongly between horses at the end. DIRECT TINT also closed well. NEW STREAM, the early leader, took command again in the stretch but faltered near the end. FLYING BRY headed NEW STREAM at the end of the first quarter, but tired badly in the stretch. ANDY B. GAY DICTATION dropped back to last place soon after the start and," although required to race wide while making her move, came fast through the last sixteenth to win under urging. J. R. JONES was outrun to the last furlong, then came strongly between horses-. ALL SHE WROTE dropped back to last place on the stretch turn but found his way between horses to finish strongly and close up. OLD BULL made a good move on the inside after entering the stretch and raced well to the end. LACY JACKET had good early speed but tired in the stretch. RETAIN was unable to keep" up. BUBBLEY was slow to get into stride and was outrun for a half mile while not being unduly hurried, then closed up fast nearing the stretch turn and, although required to come around several horses on the turn, forged to the front nearing the finish. CENTENAIRE was always well up and raced steadily to the end in a good effort. EN FLEUR went evenly throughout and finished gamely in a creditable performance. BEANIR went to the front at the outset and led by a good margin into the stretch but tired in the last sixteenth. BETSY T weakened. ALSPAL took a short lead soon after the start and, well rated, remained a short distance in advance of TEISLER throughout and held him to the end. TEISLER put up a stubborn battle in an effort to-head the leader and raced strongly to the end. AMBIGUOUS saved ground where possible and was in rather tight quarters momentarily in the stretch. TOLLESBORO was badly outrun to the stretch and closed with a rush next to the rail. ROGATION was also going strongly at the end. CIDERMAN moved up on the stretch but weakened near the end. ARAB ACTRESS was snugged when in rather tight quarters rounding the stretch turn, but found an opening on the inside entering the final sixteenth and, coming through to take command, won going away. PURSUANCE was a strong contender in the first half mile and took a short advantage entering the stretch to last to hold NIRGAL LAD to a dead-heat for second place. The latter trailed for about half the trip, but was going strongly on the outside at the end. CR0WN DERBY was always well up, bu faltered near the finish. GOLDEN ADMIRAL made a move on . the outside after entering -the stretch, but failed to carry through. SUTHERN ACCENT and JAY JAY GEE had early speed. SCRUTINIZED went welt for a half, but tired badly in the stretch. MARK went to the front at once and, although headed by NIMBLE DOLL in the first quarter, caught the latter again on the backstretch to widen nearing the stretch turn and, racing well to the finish, won under alert hand hustling. IN RESERVE was restrained slightly in the first part, moved up nearing the far turn and saved ground in the stretch to become the chief contender, but at no time seriously threatened the. winner. NIMBLE DOLL had good early speed, but was unable to keep pace with MRS. MARK or hold IN RESERVE, but was easily best of the rest. MISS ENERGY broke well and was close enough for a quarter, then dropped back gradually and turned in a below-par effort. COUNTESS ANITA and MAZZA appeared to be outclassed. MOCK BATTLE was slow to start and was outrun for a half mile, then improved his position and, closing fast on the outside, bested FARJAC in the drive. The latter was closest to the pace from the start and took a short lead in the stretch to hold on well when challenged. WILDCAT SAM moved up strongly next to the rail in the stretch and was close up at the end. PASSING HOUR was never too far removed and, although finishing with good couraqe, did not threaten for the leadership. JUST JUDY made up considerable ground when too late.
