LIANAL followed ALCOVA closely while the latter was making the pace and displaying power in the stretch, moved up on the outside to take command and win under hard urging. ALCOVA got to the front soon after the start and held on well in the final drive. OTROON lacked the speed to keep up, but was racing well at the finish. COW BOY moved up nearing the" stretch turn but faltered in the final drive. DOUBLE BOGEY closed steadily .to finish in a dead-heat for four place with COW BOY. MAYBE MABEL was tiring at the end. GO BETWEEN trailed the field for about seven furlongs, then came to the outside and closing with a rush was up in time to head ED THE GREAT in the closing strides. ED THE GREAT moved up on the inside in the stretch and, finding a narrow opening, came through to take a short lead nearing the finish antf just missed. MOKATUCK began his move sooner than usual and carried through with good courage. JUMBO LIES came to the inside in the stretch and was in rather tight quarters nearing the finish. GERRY FRANK and FEUD were used up making the pace and had little left. IRISH FLARE, although in tight quarters at the half-way mark, was never a serious factor.
