The Summer Festival Handicap, a 0,000 overnight event at six furlongs is the feature attraction at the Queens County Jockey Club course Thursday. This dash, which has drawn a field of five headed by Maine Chance Farms Jet Action, 122, and Mrs. Jan Burkes Squared Away and Joe W. Browns Bobby Brocato with 119 pounds each, is supported by the ,000 Richmond Hill Purse for juvenile fillies at -five and a half panels. The Summer Festival is offered in cooperation with the New York Convention Bureau and the association is offering a silver tray, which will be presented by Barbara Wilkin, queen of the promotional festivities. In addition, the Aqueduct management has distributed service charge admissions throughout the country for the use of summer visitors to New York. Three of the Summer Festival candidates are eligible to meet such stars as High Gun and Helioscope in the 0,000 Carter Handicap at seven furlongs on July 4. The trio is composed of Jet Action, Bobby Brocato and Brookfield Farms I Appeal, who gets in with 116 pounds and comes from a recent winning.race at Monmouth Park. Jet Action also won his last at Monmouth and was good enough last year to win the Withers and to beat Helioscope in the Roamer Handicap at Jamaica. In the past, he didnt care to have his races too close togethei. The Summer Festival .field is completed by W. L. Huntleys Hilarious, who may be Continued on Page Fifty-One Jet Action, Squared Away In Summer Festival Handicap Continued from Page Six very dangerous under 111 pounds and Ted Atkinson, who knows him well. The big fellow, who is slightly "windy," had atrocious racing luck here after a couple of good races at Delaware, then came baqk to run one of his best races, last Saturday, stepping six panels in 1:11 and leading from the start. He again breaks from the number one slot in the gate. Squared Away has not been seen since April, but has been training in fine style and is co-holder of the local track record of 1:10. Bobby Brocatos best races this year were a victory in the Paumdnok on opening day at Jamaica ,and a close second in the Toboggan at Jamaica. , 4 The only riders in this event, which shapes up as an intriguing contest despite the small field, are Atkinson on Hilarious and Bill Boland on I Appeal. The Richmond Hill field of seven is headed by John "Trader" Clarks Mabe Cee, an extremely fast filly, who more often than not manages to "get herself beat" by inferior horses. If Bill Boland can persuade her to stay on her good behavior she can beat such as Rosie, Spicey Story and Dark Belle, all recent winners, Kathleen L., Planetrix and Good. Morrow. Rosie beat Dark Belle in her last, with that Belair filly coming back to defeat Kath-leene L. and Planetrix.
