JUDGES GO TO TRIAL NEW YORK, N. T., May 22.— Former United States Circuit Judge Martin T. Man-ton, accused of selling judicial favors for bribes totalling 86,146, and Kings County Judge George W. Martin, charged with accepting a ,000 gratuity in Brooklyns so-called abortion racket, went to trial in separate courts today. Selection of a jury to try Judge Manton got under way before Federal Judge W. Calvin Chestnut immediately after the court had overruled formal motions to quash the conspiracy indictment of the federal judiciary and three co-defendants. Similarly, sifting of the talesmen to find the jury that will hear testimony against Judge Martin got under way in Brooklyn Supreme Court. The judge faces a possible twenty years in prison and a ,000 fine if convicted. If found guilty, Judge Manton may receive a two-year prison term and a ,000 fine. One of his co-defendants, John I. Lotsch, who is accused of giving Manton at least 0,000 in bribes, pleaded guilty last March and became available as a prosecution witness. William J. Fallon, another defendant, pleaded not guilty last Friday, but reserved J.he right to change his plea
