MISS MICHIGAN, in the thick of the contention throughout, responded gamely to pressure, took command when BAIZE began quitting and, hard ridden at the end, held HORSEPOWER safe. The latter, under slight reserve early, moved up gradually and, coming to the outside in the stretch, closed with good energy. BRANHAM, well placed all the way, saved ground into the stretch and closed with good energy. TRUCKIN made up ground steadily during the last quarter mile. AH-MI was unable to enter into serious contention. WISEDALE had brief early speed. ROYAL UPSET, far back early, was going stoutly when too late. TINY TUNE was unable to keep up. LUNSFORD took command in the opening strides, opened up a good lead and, under intermittent punishment the last five-sixteenths of a mile, was never seriously threatened. ELYLEE was prominent all the way and held on with good energy to the close. GAY WORLD, hard ridden early, was unable to give improved speed until the last three-sixteenths, getting up in the closing" strides to outlast THE MAULER. The latter came with good speed through the stretch run after saving all possible ground. SPINDLETOP was unable to make up any ground under urging. TEE TEE, slow to settle into best stride, was unable to make up any appreciable amount of ground when placed under punishment. OCLEARY bore out badly rounding the turn from the back stretch. Won driving; second and third the same. PALO DURO was hard ridden in an effort to keep the pace early, responded gamely through tlje stretch and was along in the closing strides. PHILOSOPHER was prominent all the way, fought it out gamely with MISS MOGUL for the early command, was placed under a hard drive through the stretch and just failed to hold on long enough. SARA CASH, well placed all the way and saving all possible ground, held on willingly to the close. MISS MOGUL dispayed good speed from the start, tiring under pressure in the last eighth. BABY LAMB moved up gamely after leaving the back stretch, was on the outside throughout and was unable to keep up in the stretch run. PROUD LASS, away slowly, closed considerable ground. ROSEMAIN, unruly at the post, raced to the front at once, drew clear in the first quarter mile, increased her advantage when leaving the back stretch, but was kept under pressure through the stretch and was never seriously threatened. FRIENDLY PAUL, slow to begin and a trailer for the first three-eighths, moved up steadily thereafter and, closing stoutly on the inside through the closing eighth, was along in the last strides to wear down SUN ARBOR. The latter, in nearest chase of the pace for most of the way, held on willingly to the end. ESCALATOR, under slight restraint while in pursuit of the pace, was unable to better her position when placed under punishment. MISS WHIM was unable to reach the leaders. THE TROUT was outrun. The latter took command in the first sixteenth, opened up a good lead, but, tiring during the last sixteenth, just failed to last. FLAMING PETEE worked way up gradually during the last three-eighths and finished with good energy. HOUSEWORK, forced to case back in the run down the back stretch when FARRAGO had her in close quarters, was unable to enter into serious contention thereafter. ATATIME closed some ground.
