PEON moved into command at the start, showed speed throughout, shook off opposition entering the stretch and drew away through the final eighth. GERMANS was close up on the inside in the early running, was placed under pressure in the stretch and outlasted SUBSTANTIAL at the end. The latter was kept in a forward position from the start and had no mishaps. BEE BRIGHT made up some ground under pressure in the final eighth. ST. ANNA was well up on the outside in the early running, but faltered steadily at the finish. KAMPORT had no mishaps. JACOPOBELLE could not keep up. CHEICK RAMA had no mishaps. Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. EVEN UP was kept up closer than usual and was urged rounding the far turn, came to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch and finished with a rush and was drawing away at the end. MON REVE lacked early speed, but improved his position when urged and then finished fast at the end while on the outside. GEORGES BREAK forced the early pace while racing on the inside, assumed command rounding the stretch turn and had no excuses from then on. BRIGHT CHANCE showed a good effort throughout. GOOD VISIBILITY lacked early speed and finished well. BALIOS showed early speed and had no mishaps. HERMIE ROY was shuffled back going to the far turn. WEE CALL had no mishaps. SHOHOLA was outrun the first part while racing under restraint, moved up on the outside rounding the stretch turn and finished with a rush to wear down MAJOR B. in the last strides. MAJOR B. was taken up at the start and then rushed up fast to assume command entering the final eighth and held on with good courage to the finish. MODEST QUEEN showed speed from the start while saving ground, only to falter in the final sixteenth. ONE-TENTH lacked speed in the early stages and then closed with a rush on the inside. BONNIE DOROTHY broke slowly. CODY had no mishaps in the running. MEDRANO was never a factor. CHRONICLE was outrun all the way. Scratched— 67222 Silent Jim, 113; 73335 Braxton, 108. EPATANT was outrun the first part while racing on the inside, was placed under pressure in the final quarter mile and then finished with a rush, wearing down the leader in the final strides. MILLFANG was well up from the start, responded to pressure in the stretch and then held on gamely to the end. CAMP VERDE showed early speed while racing true, was placed under pressure in the final sixteenth and held on gamely to the end. DEVILS CRAG was well up all the way and had on mishaps in the running. CHERRY TRIFLE was close up from the start while racing greenly. IN CHARGE closed from a slow beginning. QUAROMA was never a serious menace. ANSAR was outrun. BOLINGBROKE raced greenly. TIBERIUS, in near pursuit of the pace from the start, moved up with determination rounding the far turn, was taken under restraint when the leader sprinted away, responded when called upon in the final eighth and then outlasted BIRCH ROD in the final drive. The latter was under restraint the first part, moved up when urged in the stretch and was slightly impeded when the jockey on the winner swung his -whip in front o fhim in the final sixteenth. WAR DOG was sent into command at the start, showed, speed throughout and held on well when placed under pressure. TRAILER dropped back after the start, lost ground rounding the turns and then made up ground slowly. CHIEF ONAWAY lacked early speed, moved up gamely to the far turn and then faltered at the finish. CHIEF MOURNER showed an even effort all the way. NIPPONESE had no mishaps. TOTEM POLE raced well. SEMAPHORE had no mishaps. FREE broke in a tangle from outside the stalls.
