[ AK-SAR-BEN TURF NOTES | . $ ® S. F. Whitney, of Abilene, Texas, is an arrival at Ak-Sar-Ben Field with the horses Empress Pelota, Padmar and Dulcita. Andy Tumlinson came in from Phoenix: with three belonging to Dr. J. M. Winchester. They are Walter B., and the two-year-olds, Jacochero and Lady Brideaux. With Miss Jeanette Reed in charge, the horses owned by Perry Reed, of Lincoln, are on the ground, including Little Coquina, Voltina, Prince Ballot and the Nebraska breds, Fairy R. and Whitey R. Rollie Hughes, of Fairbury, Neb., whose Nebraska-bred, He Devil has been winning consistently, expects to arrive from Fair-mount this week, together with the horse Carefully. An arrival from Dewey, Okla., was Harry Millers Thunderbird Stable, consisting of Vishnu, Lucky Cargo, Nora Creina and Sunset Gold. W. C. McKinley, of Smithville, Mo., whose school-teacher daughters generally join him for the racing at Omaha, was a recent arrival with the horse Sky Haven. He expects to acquire several more before the meeting opens on May 27. Dr. Herman Zibell, the dentist from Pierce, Neb., who plays with the race horses as a hobby, has his one-horse stable on the grounds. It consists of the Nebraska-bred,. Ethel T. T. E. Loomis, of Storm Lake, Iowa, has two here for L. Reed of that place. They are Hot Cinders, a winner here last year, and Thelma dOr. The stable of C. B. Daniels, of New Castle, Texas, is on the grounds in charge of J. F. Daniels. Preparing for the Ak-Sar-Ben opening on May 27 are Semicolon, My Prisoner, Clock Winder, New Castle Lad, Brazos Maid, Lodies, Travelon, Shower, and the two-year-olds, Talc, Mabeleon, Stock Yard and Dark Mist. E. C. Jeffers, of Hopkins, Mo., has six. head at Ak-Sar-Ben in charge of Kenneth Scott. They include Bull Market, Dr. Jeff, Count Cary, Ogygia, Speed Book and Fair La June, a two-year-old. T. H. Swezey, of Audubon, Iowa, is here with Jerry Flirt, Ebony Girl and Verde Grey. Fred M. Gossard, of Valentine, Neb., has on the grounds Waringa, Naughty Sister and Sky Jack, all Nebraska-breds. Mrs. Cleo Bartlett, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, has two horses here in charge of John Fouts. They are Donna James and La Rogers. A recent arrival from Albuquerque, N. M., was Floyd Whiting with Colonels Miss, Odd Number, Mary Van Trump, and the Nebraska-breds, All Deuces and Sonny San. Harry Wells, who lives at Pierce, Neb., arrived recently from Phoenix with Gustavia, Gayette and Okemah. Glenn Wilson, the local horseman who has been doing right well of late, is on the grounds with Elaborate, a three-year-old, and a trio of two-year-olds from Ben Jones stock farm.
