CURWEN broke slowly from the start, was sent up fast on the outside leaving the back stretch, wore down the leaders through the final sixteenth and drew clear at the end. ABYDOS raced HAGGIS into defeat, took a brief lead in the stretch, but was unable to hold the winner. HOOD moved to the leaders after the first quarter mile and closed willingly to the end. KORACAN raced evenly. MONS MEMORIES was pinched off sharply from the start, dropped back, then came again through the stretch run. BRULOT tired. HAGGIS quit after displaying good early speed. BOBS FIRST drew away into a clear lead in the first quarter mile, was taken in hand and, steadied to the stretch, closed gamely under pressure to outfinish RED PIRATE. The latter, a forward factor from the start, closed willingly through the stretch and was rapidly wearing the winner down at the end. LINGSTER, away slowly, steadily improved position and closed with a rush through the final eighth. SAMOAN, unruly at the start and sent to the outside of the stalls, broke fast, but was quickly outrun. He. was then sent up on the outside and made a determined bid after a half mile and tired. LITTLE SARGEANT, well placed throughout, had no mishaps. CANDY FEAST raced evenly. JEALOUS SWAIN was never prominent. MISS SARNIA had brief speed. Scratched— 67889*Star Beam, 112. ARCHWORTH, much the best, sprinted into a clear lead at once, was steadied along under steady restraint the first three-quarters, then drew away to win as rider pleased. SEA GENERAL, shuffled back at the start and carried out at the first turn, worked way forward steadily thereafter and, closing gamely, outfinished SKYRUNNER. The latter raced in nearest pursuit of the pacemaker and held on well to the end. SYNGO BAY bumped at the first turn, saved ground thereafter and raced evenly. JELWELL, away slowly, made up ground. BUDSIS faltered after three-quarters. MILIUS could never threaten. RYE GRASS tired. GOLD FAWN pulled up after five-eighths and appeared to break down. TRIGGISH shook off LIGHTFUL in the first eighth, sprinted into a commanding lead and was in liand at the end. LIGHTFUL forced the running from the start, but was unable to threaten the winner. DONEDNA broke in the air at the start and was away in a tangle. She then closed with a rush to the end. ERINDALE MISS raced evenly. MARBUER tired badly. BLAZING FAIR was outrun. BOLD PLAY, away slowly, made up ground. PETERHOF dropped back at the start, then came again through the final three-eighths. DENOTE raced on the outside throughout. JOSS STICK tired. The latter raced JACK PATCHES into defeat ,and closed gamely to the end. DARK REVUE raced forwardly placed from the start, moved to the leaders threateningly in the stretch and hung in the drive. ROWES CRUMP dropped far back the first half mile, then made up ground. DIABROOM could never threaten. JACK PATCHES quit badly after three-quarters. ,
