The bay filly, trained by S. A. I "Dutch" Neilsen, was literally flying in her spin when the left hind leg snapped. It was necessary to destroy her at the spot of | the accident. Trainer Lyle Whiting reported that Royal Dove, a three-year-old filly by Carrier Pigeon — Puritan Lady, broke a bone in her foot and had to be destroyed.
