MARCHEAST went up with a rush to obtain command, swerved repeatedly and held SPLEEN safe under hard punishment. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of SPLEEN was not allowed. The latter saved ground while always forwardly placed and finished with good courage. NIGHT PATROL ran forwardly placed until the late stages and tired. PROCEED was left flat-footed at the start. CROONING WIND tired after the sixth jump. SIMOLEON lost rider at the tenth jump. BOOM BOOM ran very wide nearing the sixth jump and lost rider when bobbling at this obstacle. The latter established a clear lead quickly, was hard put for the drive, but could not resist the winner. FATHER TIBER raced slightly wide and caught tired horses. MISS TOPIC made a mild bid when called upon and gave way. GRAPHIC showed little. UP EARLY tired. NORTHAMPTON quit when unable to gain the lead early. JUMBO went into command shortly after the start, raced slightly wide while holding a clear lead, began to drift out approaching the furlong post and, finishing beyond the middle of the track, maintained a clear margin over BATTLEFIELD. The latter, away fast, lacked speed to remain prominent and was rated until leaving the turn, went to the inside for the drive, but was not good enough. ILIAD, well placed on the outside, faltered slightly in the drive, but was best of the others. NULLIFY had to be cautiously handled between horses on the backstretch.
