Hold Horse Sale at Downs CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 16. — The Kentucky Bloodstock Sales Company held an auction on the back-stretch at the local course this morning and sold 35 thoroughbreds for a total of 2,355, an average of 38.00. Uncle John, a gelding foaled in 1948, the get of Best Quality and Lill Jen, consigned by the estate of Mrs. William C. Weant, brought the highest price of ,500 on a bid from James C. Ellis. Six horses in the auction went for 0 each, while one was knocked down for 5.
