ARIEL SWEEP, within striking distance from the start, responded through the stretch and wore down REDISCO. The latter raced forwardly from the start and gave way in the final strides. BROAD CROSS, much used while dueling for the lead, weakened only slightly. CATEYES raced with the leaders to the late stretch and weakened. MAMALOI faltered after displaying good speed. SHINE ON, carefully handled while trying to lug in along the backstretch and on the turn, was brought around horses to reach contention, then moved to the rail and wore down the leaders. MAKE HAY held a commanding lead into the stretch, faltered badly and swerved nearing the end, bothering GOOD GRAZING. He was disqualified and placed third GOOD GRAZING was always prominent and seemed to lack a rally when deterred by MAKE HAY. NICK BLOOM was far out of contention and closed full of run. FLAMINIAN WAY closed ground. BALMORAL was outrun. BENGAL TRAIL displayed speed and was bothered when SHINE ON moved over in the vicinity of the furlong pole. FLORIDA FARMER was outrun. VINNIE set the pace under good rating and responded to repeated stretch pressure to outlast FENMOUSE. The latter was a factor from the beginning and fought it out gamely. KINGS LANE threatened from the outside, but hung in the final test. POKER CLUB closed ground. ELLEN DEAS was racing well when sent into close quarters along the inside in the vicinity of the three-eighths pole. FAMILY displayed speed, but could not keep up. Scratched— 28349 Volat, 102. KEE DEE assumed command at once, turned back the persistent challenge of KEYHOLE and held sway under intermittent urging. KEYHOLE showed speed throughout, but could not stay with the top one and faltered. BRIGHT BONES raced evenly and without mishap. HER REWARDS rally was insufficient. HYPERSONIC raced in a favorable position early but failed to respond. FEATHER STONE displayed speed and weakened. The others showed nothing. LE GAULOIS, under energetic handling while racing on the outside and with the leaders rounding the turn, drew clear in the early stretch and held sway under urging. ROCKY REEF, a bit slow to settle into stride, rallied well to the midstretch and, while extremely rank, moved over sharply to the inside in the final yards. HALTAFIRE dueled for the lead faltered in the final test and was bothered slightly when ROCKY REEF swerved to the inside. It is doubtful that the actions of ROCKY REEF affected the final result and Bauers claim of foul against that horse was not allowed. BIG SWEET closed ground. SIR FELIX raced well after being shuffled back immediately after the start. BLACK AL was unable to draw clear early and quit. Scratched — Throne, 114. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. BINKY B., unhurried during the early running, rallied from the outside and wore down MAHOON. The latter disposed of SCHEMING WORLD early held a clear lead on the turn and well into the stretch, but was unable to resist the winner. ORIOLE away tardily, was kept to pressure while securing racing room throughout, but lacked sufficient rally BLAZING raced forwardly for three furlongs and weakened slightly. DIGIT saved ground while bettering "his position, but lacked sufficient late rally. BALD HILL BOY was always prominent, but was not good enough. VIOLENCE rallied only mildly BAY CREEK was net a serious threat. RAPID ONE showed nothing. LOVABLE LADY quit, as did M. CORK! BONNNE G. was outdistanced through the late stages.
