Prize Ring Will Start « In William Penn Stakes Jet Master and Primate Also Probables for Week-End Race GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 16. — Racing secretary M. C. "Ty" Shea was this morning advised that Gus-tave Rings Prize Ring may be considered a definite starter in this Saturdays Tenth Running of the William Penn Stakes, with" several other juveniles who have shown brightly in competition considered likely candidates to try for the laurels in the 5,000 added five-furlongs scamper, which is the first of three stakes to be offered for two-year-olds during this meeting. The epidemic of coughing which has swept the Metropolitan area, and here at Garden State Park to a lesser degree, will probably limit the starting field to nine or 10, but it is hoped that they will be of a class to further the reputation of this event which has become increasingly popular and important to Garden State Park racing. Among those listed as possible starters are Marlboro Studs undefeated Jet Master, winner of the Hialeah Juvenile Stakes in track record time; F. W. Hoopers Royal Stream, victorious in his last two races in Miami, and Starmount Stables Primate, who recently won the Youthful Stakes at Jamaica. Metal Mike, who has been unsuccessful in his two starts in New York, has been committed to an appearance in the William Penn by owner F. E. Dixon, Jr., while E. O. OBriens Carbeau, Paul Groos Knights Reward, Cedar Farms Rusty and G. F. Stricklands duo of Lord Priam and Flaming Fleet are also looked for to be in the starting line-up. Tommy Heard has been conditioning Lord Priam and Flaming Fleet with a view to starting them in the William Penn, although their progress has been ham-, pered by their both bucking shins. Neither one has yet been tried in competition, but they are royally bred youngsters. Lord Priam, by Priam II. — Gala Belle, is a half-brother to Revoked and Alabama, while Flaming Fleet, a son of Count Fleet and Flaming Swords, is a half-brother to Blue Swords and Blue Steel. The presence of both Prize Ring and Primate would add considerable luster to the event. The last named defeated Prize Ring by three-quarters of a length in the Youthful, but Prize Ring was a winner of his two previous outings in New York, and has an impressive record of four victories in seven starts.
