Greytown in Quest of Overdue Win Ran Second Last Three Times Out To Vie With Hand Finished, Eye Catcher, Richavoo Over Six Furlongs at Washington WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., May 16. — Large fields will participate in all events at this track tomorrow when the Lincoln Fields Racing Association offers its third day of sport. Also-eligible lists prevail in every contest with the exception of the final two and spotted in sixth place on the card is a claiming race at six furlongs, for four-year-olds and upward, named the Gallant Knight. It will bring out some fair sprinters, including Eye Catcher, Grey-town, Richavoo and several others from Sportsmans Park, as well as some who went well on winter tracks. Greytown, owned by Kepler and Eaton, has the dubious distinction of being runner-up at the Cicero course on three occasions, but never being a winner. The six-year-old started four times at the National Jockey Club course, and was second in his last three engagements. His most recent defeat was meted out by Connies Boy. In that canter Greytown was off more slowly than is his wont, and was used up reaching a contending place. Eye Catcher, off to a poor start at Sportsmans, finally came through with a success in a seven-eighths venture, which would seem to indicate a rounding to best condition. Richavoo has 1 been in the money a couple of times in recent weeks. The Denemark silks, ever popular on Chicago tracks, will be carried in the feature by Hand Finished, a four-year-old filly by Stagehand, who was successful a couple of times last year. Henry D. Mag-gio, Chicago automobile dealer, will be represented by Excelsis, a five-year-old, while Signal Code, winner of two out of five during the first three months of this year: Asphalt, a four-year-old filly; Mist o Dawn and Whammo are among others in the field. Mile Races Popular at Homewood Mile races, which at this track are started from the chute, seem to be popular with the owners and racing secretary Bo-genschutz had no trouble filling a pair for Thursday. They will come as the third and fourth affairs, and each end has a few horses entered who performed creditably at Cicero. In the third race Timus, War Gift, Scrap Iron and Best Array are among the better-known for their recent endeavors, while in the fourth Icanc, Royal Challa and Grand Isle went well in the last meeting in this sector. Grand Isle was a starter here opening day, finishing third to Rare Bid and Evidence. The remaining distance race is at one and one-eighth miles and will wind up the days doings. Petes Best, Double Whorl. Coquinet, Als Bourbon, and some others who have been well played in the past will fight it out for the honors. A crack field is expected to line up in the Crete Handicap, which will have its twenty-fourth running at this track Saturday. Since Supremus won the event back in 1926 the Crete has been regarded as a measuring rod for things to come in the Chicago handicap division and it has been won by some horses who later gained considerable fame. The Crete is at six furlongs for a 0,000 added purse, and at least one previous winner is expected to start. That is Lextown, who won the affair last year.
