WESTOVER, never far back, went to the front near the furlong marker and, under good handling, held PASS safe. The latter went to tne front early, gave way to the winner entering the stretch, then appeared to come again. TORNABUONI reached near even terms with the leader when set down for the final test and held on determinedly in a sharp effort. CLINT McCRAY finished willingly under pressure. IMP IN ROMPERS rallied during the late stages, but was unable to overtake the top ones. GASCONY lacked early speed. GET BUSY tired. P0LEM0S was unable to keep up. BARBOURSVILLE failed to stay. ELIHO had no apparent mishap. HI-ROCK faltered after showing brief speed. KINGS PARK and VINCITORE were always outrun. MISTER KAW quit. DELIBERATE never was dangerous. MILK BARON, fractious during the post parade, was never a threat during the running. SHAMROCK, slow to gain best stride, responded to pressure during the stretch run and finished with good courage. MALAHIDE moved up menacingly when straightened for the drive, then faltered. PALMER METHOD failed to attain the lead and tired. RE-SHUFFLE, much used early, had little left. ROY PRINCE quit. INDICT had no excuse. SOME FUN was outdistanced early. BENBOW was under stout restraint during the earlv running took command going into the last fence and after giving way momentarily to BEAUPRE durina the late stages, came again to gain the decision. BEAUPRE raced kindly during the early running, forced to the front briefly a furlong from the finish, then faltered slightly. VIRGINIUS failed to seriously endanger the leaders when set down for the stretch run. COUP-DE-VITE moved up menacingly on the final turn, then tired THERMION was unable to keep up. MONTADET fell at the last jump. ARCHERY II. stumbled and fell at the tenth obstacle. AMIK went down at the eighth fence. BREAKERS AHEAD bobbled and lost rider at the sixth hedge. EARLY LIGHT was unable to keep up. CONFEDERACY quit. NEWSMAGAZINE had no apparent mishap. CARRY THE NEWS began sluggishly. JOY K.. fractious at the post, was never dangerous durina the running. GOLDEN GLOVES raced in nearest pursuit of the leader, after stumbling while leaving the gate, was unable to overtake the latter when set down for the drive, but easily bested the others. REFEREE went into the air slightly at the break, readily recovered but failed to rally when called upon. FLAUNT tired. ARARAT II. raced wide. PRESS was always outrun. WOLF GAL possessed high early speed, faltered when placed to a drive and was unable to cope with the bid of the winner. SITTING DUCK, farther back than usual, made up some ground during the late stages. MAINSAIL raced evenly through the final furlong. GREEK LADY and OALISON were outrun. FLEECE tired. The latter made repeated challenges to overtake the leader on the far turn, came out for the stretch run, but was not good enough. HEIRESS saved ground to the stretch, then lacked the necessary rally. BINGLE quit. FENITY was outdistanced early. FLYING JET gave way suddenly inside the furlong marker. PACOY never threatened.
