En Fleur Seeking Native Dancer Purse At Sportsmans as Fifth Win in Row Cleary Filly Asked to Turn Back Echo Rock, Albemarle, Blunt Over Seven Furlongs By J. J. MURPHY Staff Correspondent SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 8. — Native Dancer, the Vanderbilt colt who last Saturday finished second to Dark Star in the Kentucky Derby, will be honored here tomorrow in having the featured race named for him. The distance of the affair will be seven furlongs, and the third ,000 purse of the meeting will be posted for its running. A field of 10 is slated to participate, including John P. Clearys good filly, En Fleur, unbeaten in her last four starts, three of which were at this meeting. William Hal Bishop, who is far in front of the other owners and trainers here in purses won, will start two of his big guns in Echo Rock and Albemarle. Others named are Etelka, owned by Mrs. Vera Smith; Dr. Felix, recently purchased from Bishop by the Sussanne Stable; Blunt, owned by Merle Mitchell of Brush, Colo.; Royals Last, owned by Alice Likins; Abisok, from the stable of Grace Kosiba; Whirlahead, Continued on Page Forty Seven En Fleur Seeking Fifth Win In Row at Sportsmans Park Continued from Page One owned by J. J. Lombardo, and Vital Sun owned by B. Wilker En Fleur, a four-year-old daughter of Apache— Dou Doula, by Wise Counsellor, started off her string of successes here in winning on the second day of the charity meeting. She then came back to take the ,000 Spring Handicap in which she beat Blunt, Whirlahead and Dr. Felix, and followed that up with a victory over Whirl-ahead, Albemarle and Blunt. The distance in each instance was seven furlongs. En Fleur will pick up two pounds from her last race. Whirlahead will drop four, Albemarle will drop five, and Blunt will drop six. Echo Rock made his last start on the same day as En Fleur and his time for the seven furlongs on a muddy track was three-fifth seconds slower than that turned in by the filly. That was Echo Rocks sec-cond triumph at the session and his fifth in a row, he having registered three times at New Orleans. Albemarles record here has been rather spotted. He started off being unplaced in a race won by Dr. Felix, then a stable companion. He came back to win two in succession, then finished third to En Fleur and Whirlahead, and last out was unplaced in a five -furlong dash taken by Cross Ring. Etelka, after having been unplaced a couple of times in similar company, came back Wednesday to beat a good band that included Royals Last and Dr. Ole Nelson. Whirlahead has been in the money and close up in all three starts here. Dr. Felix has shown little since his early win. Blunt won the Inaugural Handicap with Whirl-ahead, Etelka, Royals Last, and Abisok behind him. Vital Sun has displayed but little since checking in from Lincoln Downs. Royals Last has been in the money twice in three starts.
