Warn Rocky, Joe on Fouls; Medics Okay Both Fighters By the United Press Chairman Livingston Osborne of the Illinois Athletic Commission told Rocky Marciano and Jersey Joe Walcott yesterday that their fight next Friday night could be lost on disqualification for repeated fouling. Osborne issued that warning after Walcotts manager, Felix Bocchicehio. had charged in the open meeting that head-butts by Marciano last September 23 had caused the brow cuts and flow of blood that resulted in Walcott being knocked out and deprived of his heavyweight crown. Only a few minutes before the Bocchicehio charge, Johnny Behr, a member of the commission, had said the bout could not be lost on a foul or disqualification. Both Osborne and Behr agreed that no single foul could cause the loss of the fight, but could result in the loss of a round. The rules regarding fouls were read to the fighters by Behr. Before the public meeting, Drs. John Pribble and Irving Slott examined the boxers and found everything okay, including Rockys nose.
