DEETZI saved ground and opened a clear lead in the initial quarter mile, then increased her advantage under brisk pressure in the drive. LORENA H. was alertly handled to join the first flight early, could not threaten the winner, but was clearly best of the others. BILLIES BEAM was taken to the inside leaving the backstretch and improved position under steady punishment. BARBARA BELLE lacked a rally. DIXIE VIXEN could not outsprint DEETZI early and faltered. SIR CLIFFORD picked up speed in the stretch. EVEN STEP broke poorly, raced into a blind switch rushing to the leaders and quit. CALATER had the most speed from the start breaking from the inside, widened his advantage racing along alertly and won with speed in reserve. MAH HEAVENS was a forward factor, was steadied while bearing out on the turn, then held on well to best ELMOS CHOICE. The latter was guided to the inside for the drive and finished well. PLAY FIDDLE gave an even performance. NIMBLE MYTH was not a threat. PISGAH ROAD could not match speed with the winner and quit. Scratched— 854454 Irony, 112. Won driving; second and third the same IRVS BOY steadily made his way forward between horses, after settling into stride and strongly disposed of contention in the drive. VICI ADMIRAL began alertly, joined ALL IN ONE at the far turn, shook clear of that one with difficulty and had nothing left with which to resist the winner. ALL INTONE dashed into command at once, held on determinedly to the last furlong and faltered. JUNOX raced within striking distance, but lacked a rally. IRWW W. broke in a tangle and was outrun. WAR SAN was briskly handled to improve position, wrested command from the outside m the early stretch and continued gamely under steady urging. SCOTCH BIM raced slightly wide, gradually made up distance to loom a threat, but hung. TOP COMMAND, unhurried while outrun, rallied well in the drive and finished fast. TARPORT KID saved ground, . made a mild run on the final turn under punishment, and lacked courage in the stretch. IGNITE easily wore down MISS NIMBLE on the final turn, drew away without need of urging and was in hand for the finish. BY JUPITER gained a contending position after settling into stride, raced wide on the turn, then finished well and held MERRY MOUNT safe. The latter rallied determinedly in the stretch run. PLIANT was a forward factor and tired. MISS NIMBLE began alertly, raced well for a half-mile and faltered when headed. BIG DAN was briskly ridden to no avail. PETER JO was beino eased up at the end. CIRCUS CLOWN raced between horses steadily improving position from a slow start and finished gamely to best GIGGLE. The latter saved ground throughout and finished willingly. RUTHRED was carried extremely wide on the turn by CONTY BAY, but closed fast when clear. CONTY BAY bore out badly on the turn. PLAY TOY had his usual speed, but quit after a naif mile.
