SWEEP THE SKY broke alertly, dropped off the pace down the backstretch, regained a forward position before entering the stretch, moved to the extreme outside with a rush and drew clear near the end. ALPHARA, sluggish in the early stages, closed stoutly through the stretch. BIRDIE LULLEY sprinted into command soon after the start, was overtaken before straightened for the drive but held on gamely in the late stages. DANDY FOOT weakened slightly after forcing the pace. HI GE0RGIE caught the leader after a half mile, was unable to shake off the challengers and weakened. STAND OFF went evenly. STOP AND THINK showed nothing. MIDNIGHT QUEEN was never prominent. MR. FLARETOWN broke alertly, was reserved behind the leader for three furlongs, moved into command when roused and withstood a sustained stretch drive. MR. COVELL rushed boldly on the final turn, was forced to go wide in the stretch and closed With good energy. CLOVER LADY, a forward factor along the inside, was allowed to drift out in the stretch and failed to menace. MELL0 JACK dropped back at the start, saved ground to improve position on the turns and lacked a closing rally. CINDY MORAN weakened after losing the lead. DARE DEVIL raced in spots. TAZEWELL had no mishap. MAJ0N JR. showed speed for a quarter mile, was caught in close quarters, taken up, and dropped back. The others were outrun. FRANKS FIRST gained command at once, skirted the inner rail, gave way momentarily and regained the lead to outfinish SIR COUNTRY. The latter quickly reached the leaders on the final turn, assumed command on the outside and just failed to last. CONDAMION moved to the leaders entering the stretch, was between horses in the stretch drive and just missed ANNETTE G., a forward factor, lacked a late rally. GOLD WEAVE was in close quarters throughout and had to be taken up repeatedly. TIGHT BOOTS lost ground throughout. BOLD POLLY was unable to keep up LILS JOY had no mishap. Won easily; second and third driving. MONTENEGRIN, in hand down the backstretch, moved readily when set down, raced wide on the final turn, ducked to the inside after straightening for the drive, overtook MONA LOU inside the final furlong and drew out easily. SIGNAGIRL closed with good energy from far off the pace. MONA LOU was used up chasing the early leader and had nothing left at the end. EQUILLA passed tiring horses. LOUIS K. had no mishap. DR. REES rallied mildly to make up ground in the late stages. CONNIE RAB, steadied while trailing to final quarter mile, moved between horses under a drive but was not good enough. BILLY BOWLEGS had no mishap. WHITSUNTIDE went evenly. SWEET SIGRID was outrun. RAGS TO RICHES was not persevered with after dropping out of contention. SUN JEEP, under light restraint while saving ground to the stretch, moved out slightly, responded to steady pressure and was along in the final sixteenth to take command and held DOMQUIL safe. The latter moved with a rush after three furlongs, lost ground on the turns, continued on gamely and turned in a creditable effort. Ml NTAWAY opened a comfortable lead soon after the start, saved ground while shortening stride and was tiring at the end. FIGHT A LITTLES late rally was not good enough. COHERENCE had no mishap. ATOMIC FIRE steadied within striking distance of the pace, was sent up on the outside nearing the quarter pole, responded willingly under steady urging to gain command and drew out readily. GEORGE W. W. broke alertly, dropped back and was in hand to the far turn, began moving steadily but was unable to reach the leaders. USUAL made up ground with a belated rush. VALPAM went out to a swift pace, was overtaken after a half mile and failed to stay with the leaders in the late stages. THE MINOR caught tiring horses. WARRENS GRAY showed nothing.
