J. MURPHY HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., June 18.— The gray stallion, Oil Capitol, who still has the distinction of being the worlds richest thoroughbred now in training despite the rapid gains in that direction by that other gray, Native Dancer, will try to add some fresh money to his 28,231 bankroll here tomorrow. Native Dancers earnings amount to 22,745 to date. The six-year-old Oil Capitol, who races for Hasty House Farm and Mrs. Harry Trotsek, has been named to start in Lincoln Fields Friday feature, the ,500 Glencoe Purse, here at Hawthorne. He is scheduled to meet seven others in the six and one-half furlong dash out of the chute. Victory for the gray son of Mahmoud — Never Again n., would yield ,875 and place his earnings 0,361 ahead of those of the sensational three-year-old Native Dancer, who, as his junior by three years, may yet have a future as exciting and remunerative as his past. Adams to Ride Oil Capitol Besides Oil Capitol, who will carry 120 pounds, including Johnny Adams, leading rider at this meeting, the Glencoe attract-ed the following seven good sprinters: B. W. Landys Spur On, 120, and Unbridled, 108; Marv-Arnie Stables * Albemarle, 117; Reverie Knoll Farms LeMonde, 114; Sam E. Wilsons Bugledrums, 108; W. H. Bishops Challcote, 111, and Mrs. Sayde Smiths Blue Licks, 114. This will be the first start for Oil Capitol since he won Keenelands Ben Ali Handicap on April 18. He had previously won the Palm Beach and the Widener handicaps at Hialeah, finished second to Crafty Admiral in the McLennan at the Florida track, and third to Smoke Screen and Happy Go Lucky at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, to compile earnings of 30,580 for this year alone. Oil Capitol was bred at Elmendorf when -that historic farm was owned by the Wid-eners. He first raced for the Oklahoma oil man, Tom Gray, who bought the son of Mahmoud as a yearling. Oil Capitol was purchased later by his trainer, Harry Trotsek, acting for his wife and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Reuben of Toledo, Ohio. Spur On was the third member of the "big three" at New Orleans last winter, being the principal rival of Smoke Screen and Happy Go Lucky at that winter meet- Continued on Page Forty-Six Oil Capitol Returns to Turf Wars in Glencoe at Hawthorne Continued from Page One ing. Between January 3 and March 13 the five-year-old son of Whirlaway — Still Blue won four races at New Orleans, including the Louisiana and Consolation handicaps. He has made one start since, finishing unplaced behind Gala Fete, Recline, and Stop Gap here on May 21. His stablemate, Unbridled, who won the Hyde Park Stakes at two, and a good winner since, was second in his latest start, a race won by Seaward here at Hawthorne on June 11. Challcote was third in that race. In the latters only previous start this year he finished fourth to Sun David at their meeting on June 5. Albemarle, who has changed hands several times this spring, has won four this year. He was nominated for Saturdays 0,000 Lincoln Handicap by a former owner, J. J. Gregory. Spur On and Unbridled also are nominees for the Lincoln, which occasions some guesswork concerning the stables plans. Owner Landy also has Cul-lerton eligible for the Lincoln. Le Monde and Blue Licks both are winners this season.
