_ Bosox 17-Run Inning Is New Modern Record BOSTON, Mass., June 18 UP.— The Boston Red Sox set a modern Major league record today when they scored 17 runs in the seventh inning of their game with the Detroit Tigers. The final score was 23 to 3. The record surpassed the mark set last year by the Dodgers at 15 as well as the previous American league standard set by the Red Sox at 14 against the Cleveland Indians on June 18, 1950. The all-time record of 18 runs in one inning was set by the Chicago Cubs on September 6, 1883.
