Benjamin F. Lindheimer, executive director of Arlington-Washington, today revealed the recreation and facilities program for backstretch employes, pointing out that the twin "Chicago tracks are constantly improving and expanding such operational items to assist owners and trainers in obtaining good employes. "We recognize that the tracks are located in the country-side," Lindheimer said, "and that there is often difficulty in finding entertainment and recreation. Consequently, we at Arlington and Washington are stepping up that phase of our program and will continue to improve it wherever necessary. "The folks in the backstretch are entitled to pleasures and comforts," he added, "and we feel certain they will be pleased with the facilities this year. Management will continue to attempt to devise new ways of providing special recreation and entertainment facilities." Lindheimer Describes Facilities Lindheimer described the facilities in detail, a list which includes new 27-inch, television sets in the recreation rooms, which have been remodeled and redecorated at Arlington and which will be brand-new at Washington Park. Up-to-date movies, inaugurated last year, will be continued at both Arlington and Washington, every Tuesday and Friday evening, with free admission and free refreshments. A baseball diamond already is in use at Arlington Park, with the association providing baseballs, bats and all equipment. A similar field and facilties will be ready for use when Washington Park opens. Additional recreation will be provided by table tennis, billiards and libraries indoors, with brand-new comfort and shower facilities in the recreation rooms of both tracks. "We know it will help make life much more pleasant for the stable personnel who come here each year."
