__ _ , Delaware Stewards Confirm Pleiades Three-Length Score Roman Orgy Riders Claim * Of Foul Against Odds-On Phipps Colt Not Allowed By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 18. — After clearly asserting himself; with a three-length victory in the featured Camden Purse, John S. Phipps Pleiades was forced to withstand a claim of foul before being declared the official winner of the mile and one-sixteenth test for three-year-olds. In second position at the wire was Mrs. Henry Obres Roman Orgy, who, despite going lame through the stretch, retained a half-length advantage over Kil-lian Farms Dark Royal. Shuks Second Win of Day Pleaides, a son of Isolater, who was well-regarded enough to have been made eligible for Saturdays rich Leonard Richards, was scoring his second win in five starts this year and did so in time of 1:46%. He was solidly supported by the crowd of 11,807 and returned only .20. The victory was the second of the program for Nick Shuk and moved him into a tie with Jack West-rope for honors at the meeting, each having scored 13 successes. H. R. Grays Frosty Whirl cut out the early running when a good paqe failed to develop, but he was through after six furlongs and stopped badly, as iirst Dark Royal, then Roman Orgy took a turn on the front end. Pleiades, however, had the situation well in hand and circled the field to enter contention. While clearly superior to his foes, Pleiades did show a tendency to lug in near the furlong pole and, in so doing, brushed Roman Orgy lightly. The stewards, upon viewing the pictures and hearing from the patrol judges, felt that the offense was insufficent to warrant a disqualification. Trainer Clyde Turk and apprentice Duane Boman registered consecutive doubles in the third and fourth races, winning with Charles Whittinghams Black Widow and Yolo Farms Plutus. The latter, a solid choice at .60 had little trouble while winning by three and a half lengths over maidens. rBlack Widows victory was by only a length, but her effort was equally as impressive as she moved from off the pace to be timed in 1:06% for five and one-half furlongs. Black Widow returned .60, while downing Cecil Locklears favored King for All. Clyde E. Buckleys Little F., a two-year-old Flushing II. filly, who boasted a victory at Churchill Downs and a win and a second at Waterford Park, was the winner of the fifth race under Bernie Hewitt, while being timed the five and a half furlongs in 1:06%, the .70 chance down Newton-dale Stables Gracies Lark and Mrs. E. H. Augustus Music Maestro.
